Job Description

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) leads the technology function and is responsible for the advancement of company policy and practices in the design, planning, procurement, and implementation of technology. Technology is defined in the broader sense as the hardware, software, connectivity and related matters relative to data, voice, conferencing, low voltage applications, and enabling/assistive technologies.

The CTO is responsible for the management of technology services, including staff, consulting/contractual resources, and operating and capital finances. The CTO implements and manages major initiatives and must have exceptional skill in directing a variety of projects.

Working closely with the Senior Executive team, the CTO influences technical and architectural aspects of company-wide technology decisions. The CTO assists organizational leaders in the development of new, and repositioning of existing, programs and services as it relates to technology. The position is responsible for the highest possible level of employee and customer satisfaction in the area of technology and the identification and monitoring of performance measurements towards service excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a technology strategy to support the company’s Value Creation Plan
  • Enable other departments in using technology effectively
  • Build processes for data protection and quality assurance
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators and metrics
  • Serve as the technical program manager for all company technology-related projects.
  • Ensure the ongoing maintenance and updating of information systems and infrastructure, including hardware, software, and ASP applications.
  • Create solid project management teams that can ensure all projects are on time and within budget while meeting the needs of our key stakeholders.
  • Work with the CFO to manage and oversee all financial and business planning activities related to technology projects.
  • Lead and support program budgeting and strategic planning processes.
  • Manage the complex procurement process for IT solutions.
  • Manage contractors and consultants, as well as recruit and retain a talented pool of IT, policy, and project management professionals.
  • Responsible for communicating changes in technology climate affecting operations and required strategy changes.

Skills and Experience

  • M.B.A. or Master’s degree in Management, Information Resource Management or another technical field
  • 15 or more years of senior-level management or consulting experience in a similar job.
