Job Description

Seeking a Director of Engineering responsible for leading engineering and product development activities in our Denver facility. The Director of Engineering provides technical and programmatic leadership for ongoing combat system programs and capture activities, exercises broad personnel responsibilities and is a key player in corporate decision making. Salary and executive compensation package commensurate with senior executive position.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to ongoing programs in terms of engineering specifications, designs, solutions and documentation; ensuring that our products and services meet contract requirements and customer expectations
  • Lead programmatic efforts including customer interface, engineering/project formation and organization associated with contracts formation, execution, and reporting.
  • Interface with key customers as needed to ensure successful client engagements
  • Align engineering staffing and resources with projected customer needs to ensure objectives are met and achieved
  • Ensure engineering contractual relationships are appropriate for the needs of the business and within corporate guidelines
  • Ensure that products are fully and correctly defined, documented and delivered within cost and schedule
  • Serve as a hands-on second-tier supervisor to a multi-disciplined team of systems, software, hardware, and research engineers.
  • Actively develop engineering personnel, ensuring adequate and appropriate training is provided to all staff in order that they acquire and maintain the skills necessary to carry out their roles & responsibilities
  • Provide business leadership for engineering and product development activities including budgeting, product roadmaps, development strategy, effective project management practices, and scalable processes and procedures
  • Foster innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet customer needs
  • Contribute to ongoing efforts to adopt/refine In-Depth Engineering processes and procedures in coordination with other leadership and staff

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and passion for embedded systems and military system rigors – particularly systems and software engineering tools, processes and solutions.
  • 20+ years of hands-on engineering experience in systems and software engineering for tactical/combat system product solutions, including experience with DoD systems and software engineering processes, products and solutions for shipboard combat systems - including 10+ years of expertise in the development of Navy surface ship and/or submarine combat systems (e.g. AEGIS, SSDS, AN/BYG-1, AN/BQQ-10, IUSS)
  • 10+ years in an engineering leadership role with a proven track record of developing team members, implementing sound business/engineering practices and delivering engineering solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of hardware and software integration and familiarity with system of systems concepts for military use
  • Thorough understanding of DOD Acquisition and DOD Requirements processes
  • Solid understanding of the business issues required to lead an engineering organization, including knowledge of operations, budget management, design-to-cost, quality, and product life-cycle management

Education

  • Required: BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Desired: MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
