You will be part of our automotive division as a Software Engineering Manager. This individual will be focused on the development of engineers, helping them deliver user value, and strategic work across a set of our cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Drive incremental value delivery for your team while defining and maintaining engineering best practices
- Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve engineering process, employees’ success, and business success
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, support and help grow the expertise of your teams in architecture, performance, scalability, maintainability, and experimentation
- Attract and retain top talent. Provide leadership and direction to direct reports and create a working environment of commitment and accountability
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with your team members to provide continuous performance feedback, help identify areas for growth, and use goal setting to support learning and development
- Collaborate on a longer-term basis with engineering and product leadership teams to build and foster good relations and strategic planning for the greater good of the team
- Create an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration
- Be a strong advocate and driver for the Agile/Scrum process
Required qualifications:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
- In-depth knowledge of engineering operations and hands-on experience in improving operational efficiency and developing a vision for long term success of engineering teams
- You have been instrumental to successful product launches, as well as in subsequent iterations of existing products, by utilizing effective software development practices including agile, continuous improvement and continuous delivery
- You have a strong technical background, as evidenced by multiple engineering leadership roles, with a personal preference for remaining highly technical
- Proven experience leading engineering teams during the evolution of the Engineering function from start-up to the mid life cycle
- Demonstrated track record of successfully hiring, managing, coaching and retaining engineers
- Experience dealing with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- You are well versed and experienced at applying Agile tools and mental models to take on the problems of an engineering organization
- You have built a learning organization and are continuously learning as a leader
